Metro area early risers will see light showers and some damp road conditions Monday before skies gradually clear and offer up a mostly sunny afternoon.

The National Weather Service says high pressure will begin building offshore later in the day and the majority of the shower activity will fall over the southern Washington and northern Oregon Cascades and foothills. The high will reach about 67 degrees.

High pressure will be the driver for a mostly dry day Tuesday with partly sunny skies and temperatures climbing to about 76 degrees.

A weak system will increase onshore flow Tuesday night and bring some showers into Wednesday morning. Any early showers Wednesday will move out of the area quickly and leave Portland with a partly sunny day. Daytime high temperatures will be a bit cooler, about 72 degrees, due to a slight increase in cloud cover during the afternoon.

Forecasting models still disagree about weather later in the week, with about half suggesting another round of cooler and wetter weather sometime late Thursday into early Saturday, and the other half expecting a dominant ridge of high pressure drying us out and bringing temperatures in the 80s. Forecasters hope to see some agreement in the next day or so.
