Tenant threatens to kill apartment property manager: Berea Police Blotter - cleveland.com

The property manager at Quarrytown apartments, 55 W. Bagley, called police at about 11 p.m. Aug. 17 and said a tenant had threatened to kill her earlier that day.

The manager said the tenant, 55, was angry and aggressive toward people in the apartment lobby. When the manager told the tenant she was on the phone, he turned his anger toward her.

The tenant may have mental health problems. The manager didn’t want to press charges, but wanted the incident documented because the tenant has misbehaved in the past.

A Cleveland woman, 31, was banned from CAM Engineered Products, 1000 W. Bagley, after she drove to the company and harassed workers.

The woman is an on-again, off-again girlfriend of a CAM Industrial worker. The company called police at about 1 p.m. Aug. 17 and said the woman had recently visited several times and caused trouble.

Police advised the boyfriend to press charges against the woman and obtain a protection order to keep her away from him. Police then learned the woman was wanted in Berea.

The owner of Berea Beverage, 7 W. Grand, called police at about 2 p.m. Aug. 18 and said an unidentified man had just stolen a Red Bull energy drink from his store.

The owner said the man, pushing a stroller, entered the store with a woman. He walked to the Red Bull cooler, opened the cooler door, pulled out a Red Bull, slipped it under his waistband and covered the can with his shirt.

The man and woman then bought cigarette rolls at the counter. The owner asked the man if he was going to pay for the Red Bull. The man denied having the Red Bull, saying he had placed the can back into the cooler.

The owner said the man and woman shop at the store regularly, but he didn’t know their names. He didn’t want to press charges, but wanted the couple banned from the store.

A worker at CVS Pharmacy, 212 W. Bagley, called police at about 4:45 a.m. Aug. 19 and said a man and woman, both unidentified, had stolen a basketful of merchandise from the store.

The man and woman had entered the store and asked for a COVID-19 home testing kit. Then they walked around the store for several hours, removing various items from the shelves and placing them in a shopping basket.

After the couple left the store, the worker checked store security video and discovered that the couple had left the store without paying for the merchandise in the basket.

A Waverly man contacted police at about 1 p.m. Aug. 23 and said someone had stolen his identity.

The man said he had received a welcome-to-your-new-account email from bloomingdales.com, even though he had never opened a Bloomingdale’s account. He reset the password to the fraudulent account and signed in.

He then discovered that the account’s shipping address was in Minnesota.

Open containers of alcohol in vehicle, drug paraphernalia possession: Mulberry Street

A Berea man, 38, was cited at about 2 p.m. Aug. 19 after police found an open container of alcohol in his car.

Police had stopped the man’s vehicle after checking the license sticker and finding that it had expired two days earlier.

They noticed an open can of beer near the floorboard of the back seat. When police asked the man if he was carrying anything else illegal, he handed over a marijuana pipe containing burned residue.

Police asked the man to step out of the car. They found a can of vodka and soda near the floorboard on the front passenger side. The can was about one-third full.

Police also found a bag of what they believed was marijuana, a marijuana brownie and two packages of marijuana wax.

Police performed field sobriety tests, but determined that the man was not appreciably impaired. They confiscated the marijuana and paraphernalia and dumped out the alcohol.
