The Transitional Services for New York, Inc. (TSINY) held a Kickoff to Summer cocktail party and networking night at the Bourbon Street Rooftop on June 23.

Several state leaders attended the event, including Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, Assemblyman David Weprin, Council Member Vickie Paladino, Deputy Comptroller for Diversity Management Nancy Hernandez and New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.

Richards, Paladino and Weprin each spoke about the great work TSINY has been doing as a mental health agency over its 47 years of existence. Richards said his office will continue to provide capital funding for TSINY next year for its new building at 163rd Street, scheduled to break ground this December.

Among the food and drink features at the event were unlimited wine, beer, signature drinks and appetizers. Additionally, there were samplings from Harry’s Habana Hut Cigar Lounge available. There were two raffles for Mets tickets to any game and a bag of Mets goodies and an Independence Day cooler full of Newport Craft Beer and gift cards to Bourbon Street and One Station Plaza.

The Kickoff to Summer marked the first of three TSINY events this year. On Sept. 15 at 12:30 p.m., there will be a ribbon-cutting at 161-01 89th Ave. to mark the opening of a new 70-unit supportive housing building that will provide homes for 42 homeless individuals coming from shelters. On Sept. 20 at 6 p.m., the Autumn in New York Gala will take place at Leonard’s Palazzo.

The expected honorees at the Autumn in New York Gala include Evan R. Feuer, MA, LMHC, Kathryn T. Hutchinson, Ph.D. and Tyrone Rodman. Feuer, the manager of behavior health services at Zucker Hillside Hospital/Northwell Health, will receive the 2022 Behavioral Health Professional of the Year Award.

Hutchinson, the vice president of student affairs at St. John’s University, will receive the 2022 Educator of the Year Award. Rodman, the associate director of behavioral health services at Elmhurst Hospital Center, will receive the 2022 Hospital Administrator of the Year Award.

TSINY, a community-based mental health organization, provides rehabilitative services to improve the lives of people recovering from mental illness and facilitates their transition to increased levels of independence.
